Flounder

I feel lost without a clear goal to make an income. If I had money to make things happen it wouldn't be a problem. I should have quite the incentive though to make something work so that I will be able to get out of my present job. I'm getting desperate enough that I'm thinking of any job so long as it's not this one.

Ah Ha

Well I am back again almost a year later. I was thinking what the heck doing the blog thing when virtually no one reads it - ever. But then I thought - oh, I have lots of friends now that will read it (especially if I make them).

And what a year it has been. Dorothy's house has landed. Haven't completely figured out where I am but doing pretty well. Except for my dear sweet little baby Misha who's buried in a f-ing hole.

Here is a very tasty and super easy din-din idea from Wegman's:

Three-Cheese Ravioli with Baby Spinach & Spicy Arrabbiata Sauce Serves: 4 Active Time: 10 min Total Time: 15 min

  • 2 pkgs (9 oz each) Italian Classics Three-Cheese and Spinach Ravioli (Dairy Dept) prepared per pkg directions, keep warm (any ravies will do fine)

  • 2 Tbsp olive oil

  • 1 bag Fresh Baby Spinach

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 container (13 oz) Italian Classics Arrabbiata Sauce (Dairy Dept) *see notes below...

  • 2 Tbsp Parmigiano-Reggiano Cheese

Add basting oil to large skillet or braising pan on MEDIUM-HIGH. Add spinach; season to taste with salt and pepper. Cook 2-3 min until spinach is wilted.
Add sauce; bring to simmer. Add ravioli. Simmer 2 min to heat through. Transfer to serving platter; sprinkle with cheese.

Recipe featured in Wegmans Menu Magazine, Fall 2007 and Holiday 2007

I just made a quick and simple arrabiata sauce-sauteed garlic in olive oil, added at least 28 oz. can tomatoes, lots of basil and oregano, then the key ingreedient: crushed red pepper (to your taste), some tomato paste. Simmer down! I also think that olives would be very tasty in this.

Just before everything is done I added the spinach roughly cut to the hot sauce to cook it.
Crusty bread, vino, maybe a salade and voi-la!

And now a little multiple choice question:

All about being... (Choose only one)
A.) In charge
B.) Pissed Off
C.) Fucked
D.) Fucked over
E.) All of the above

Yes this was posted before but though it worth repeating.

What if...

Misha at the lake.
George Bush. Comedy of Errors. He is giving a special Addresss the Nation speech right now. I just heard him say "They can't run us out of the Middle East." OMG. For real he said that. How can someone be so ridiculous even when someone else is writing the speech for him?

What if the hokey pokey really is what it's all about?

Thanksgiving

This little box was just a plain beatup wood box that looked like it was headed for the trash and Voila! Now it's fit for the King. I had a lot of fun painting it. Every surface has coat after coat of paint and glazes.
My dear friend stopped by yesterday and in the course of the conversation told me that "I was a tuff little nut"! I thought that was just too funny not to write down some where.

Ahhhhh

Ahhhh the decadant life of the Unemployed. The big questions being: Can I finish off this half gallon of heavenly hash before the afternoon show that I want to watch comes on? Or will it not mix too well with cocktail time at 4:00?

OZ

I feel like I'm in the tornado in the Wizard of Oz my whole life whirling up up up in the vortex and when I come down I won't know where I am. Everything will be strange and different. I'll be someplace where I have no idea where it is, searching to go back to someplace that I know.

Complaining

My camera is driving me crazy. How can it take such awful photographs? The light and color is different on each photo even though I take a bunch of photos at once. aaagggghhh.

And while I'm in the mood for complaining...Why is it that I can't get an image to transfer even though it seems like I'm doing everything correctly. They just come off with the paper.

Finally an update after all that's happened

Copper, sterling silver, crystal, tiger's eye pendant

I love how clear and beautiful the photographs are on Dooce.com. She has a Nikon D70 (I think) Very expensive camera but beautiful pictures. How could my camera take such crappy pictures? I thought that I had found the book for it but it turned out to have only a couple of pages of how to set it up and no other info just a thick book in many lanquages.I've slowly been working on my art journal and techniques for backgrounds and transfering images-no luck what so ever with inljet transfers - but I'm still trying. Can't wait until that Claudine Hellmuth's Collage book gets here. Amazon had it ready to ship last Thursday and the post office picked it up today -SIX DAYS! Then usually it gets lost in Warren-something-or-other Pennsylvania for DAYS! not unlike the Bermuda triangle and finally it will arrive at my house. I should just pay the freaking postage for faster shipping.

Another project completed!

I had this plain white little cabinet that had been a present with bath soap stuff in it. I decided that I would paint it to match my bedroom and hang it on a wall space that just needed that little something. And Voila! There are many layers of paint colors and textures on this cabinet that my photographs just don't show.

The week from hell

My daughter and I had birthdays this week. My parents will be gone on Sunday. The only good thing about them moving is that I've been at the BEST rummage sale I could ever imagine all week. And everthing was free. I have been on an emotional roller coaster. Good thing my one brother was here. "Just let it go, Linda" was what he said to me a million times.
I would have choked my other brother if he had a neck.
So if his name was Lard Head or Lard Ass, then people could just call him Lard for short. "Lard. Hey Lard..."
I got a present. Ciao Italia. I've wanted this cookbook for ages. It looks great and explains about alot of things, like ingredients, etc.

More photoshopping

So my plan is to learn a new Photshop trick (most) every day. (I say most to be realistic). Here is one that uses another masking technique to make it look all fuzzy. Just like the original Star Trek shows did when the camera was on any women in the show. If you don't believe me check for yourself. By the way we are at a little town right on the Mediterranean on the beach really and that is my bathing suit. I'm not just wearing any old thing that low cut.

Bee gripes

So my boss just told me that he had someone else do the poster to advertise the bee class. Isn't that my job? What am I here for?
Does it seem insulting or am I being "overly sensitive"?
