Make It-Bake It

 I've been making a lot  of washcloths lately. Mostly crochet but one knitted. I am thinking of attaching them together to make a throw blanket. Love the soft cotton yarn and the colors. 

I copied the style of a 1950's clothespin holder that had been my mother's and  used upcycled fabric from an old skirt and trim from rummage sales. I used the hanger from the original clothespin bag but a new one could easily be made.

Unicorn Jewelry Box Project

I was looking at unicorn jewelry boxes as a Christmas present for Zora. They were all basically the same and plastic. So I remembered that I had gotten an older jewelry box on one of my Vintage Lindy Lou shopping trips that I was at some point going to upcycle. It is wood with a paper covering glued on.also a couple weird snaps that at one time attached something. After finally prying those off I gave it about 3 coats of gesso. I sponged different colors on for a background. I drew out designs on paper, then traced them onto the box.I added glitter, gold paint and jewels at the end. I painted Zora's name and them covered with glitter and Mod Podge. It was fun to make with all the glitter and shiny stuff!

Valentine's Day continues

I made a little personalized Valentine for grand daughter Zora to hang on a wall

It started with a heart shaped unfinished wood plaque from a craft store. It comes with a hanger on the back. I then gave it a base coat of craft paint-pink of course!

I hot glued some dollar store tinsel garland around the edge and then some gold Mardi Gras beads.

I eventually got the right size of a photo of her face to mod podge glue in the center.

I had little bits and bobs to add more fun and finished with hot glued on curlie cues of tinsel (that came with wire through it)

Valentine's Day

I know, I know it's terribly late but I wanted you to see some of the Valentine's Day things that I worked on. I love making Valentine crafts because they are totally glitzy and gaudy as you want them to be!

                OK ready to get started with a collection of this and that I have been collecting...

First is a Valentine wreath that started with a couple bases and adorable heart lights from the Dollar Store. I added some vintage plastic pieces, vintage angels, mardi gras beads, sequins, a printed vintage valentine and wrapped with some frilly tinsel garlands. Get out the glue gun!

Halloween

These are some of my Halloween displays. Hard to photograph to be able to see things.

If you look closely at the little handmade halloween hutch you will see a crystal ball, eyeballs,spiders, and vintage looking pumpkins.

I found this fun idea on Pinterest and Zora and I made it. We definitely made a mess but great fun. She had a blast. She's three. We made ours pink with lots of glitter and eyeballs. I had found just a perfect size little black cauldron at the dollar store to put it in.

The Cardboard Dollhouse Begins

You can see from the photos most of the tools that I used: scissors, utility knife, various squares, and plain old Elmer's glue                                                          

After the basic structure of the dollhouse is all glued together and papier mache add to cover the edges, I gave it an all over coat of gesso primer. I am sure any white paint would work fine also.

Cardboard Dollhouse

The Dollhouse is getting close to being finished. I have been working on furniture. There have been many times I have said " why didn't I just buy it" 

Next working on the cardboard furniture:

Finally making some headway on the furniture for the dollhouse. The bedroom furniture is almost finished. The bed will have posters with some sort of canopy and the closet needs the doors painted. It has a tiny drawer in the bottom and so does the vanity which also needs a stool for it.

I have more photos to post tomorrow and some artwork but they are on the other computer so until tomorrow...
